Local Beaches

Pine Island

Pine Island is a 10 minute drive from the property and is kept in immaculate condition. Car parking is right next to the beach. The beach itself provides safe bathing in the warm Gulf Coast water - a very gentle shelving beach allows a shallow area for a good 50 yards from the beach which is excellent for young children or for just relaxing in the warm water.

Beach ammenities include toilet/showering/cafe and childrens play area with several large covered picnic areas with adjoining free BBQ grills - so take the cooler along and grill your own lunch !!!

Clearwater

The well-known Florida beaches of Clearwater & St Peters are a one hour drive to the south of the property.

Golf

Our Villa is situated within "The Heather" gated Golfing Community. Non-member access to the golf course is permitted and information regarding Green Fees can be found in the clubhouse. There are many other courses within a one hour radius of our Villa. These courses range from budget public access courses to Tournament level.

Fishing

There are many freshwater lakes and the nearby Weeki Wachee River where freshwater fishing can be found. Charter boats can be booked to venture out into the Gulf of Mexico for 4,6 or 12 hour trips where all tackle and tuition is included. Tarpon Springs is a short drive to the south of our Villa.

Local Attractions

The Buccaneer Bay/Weeki Wachee Springs is a fresh water spring, water park and wildlife park, only two minutes drive from the property, offering the only freshwater spring water park in the area, wildlife tours, water show/entertainment and canoeing and scuba diving.

Why not Hire a Canoe on the nearby Weeki Wachee River - and see the Manatees up close !!!!

This being known as the Nature Coast - there are any number of smaller parks and attractions in the surrounding area.

The larger Walt Disneyworld Florida attractions in Orlando are approximately just over an hours' drive away.

Entertainment for all ages at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay is less than an hours' drive to the south. Here you have a wildlife park & theme park all rolled into one!. A great day out for all.

Shopping

No trip to Florida would be complete without a bit of retail therapy!

There are lots of places to shop on Routes 19 and 50 (only a short drive away). Here, you will find the likes of Sears, Belk, Wal-Mart, Bell, to name but a few.

There are also quite a few Malls in the locale - many of them within a 20 minute drive (and open until 9pm) so you do not miss out on that all important sunshine!

Restaurants

Again, there are any number of restaurants locally serving a variety of food from Chinese, Italian and, of course pizza. Telephone numbers and menus are available at the villa. Home delivery is available at some restaurants but most of them also offer food to go.
